Arka Jewellery (“Arka”, “we”, “us”) is a fine-jewellery house based in Deira, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit arkajewellery.ae, book a private appointment, enquire about a piece, or buy from us, and how we look after it. We process personal data in line with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data and, where it applies to you, the EU/UK GDPR.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Arka Jewellery, Shop 17 & 18, Moza Plaza 5, Al Khor Street, Deira, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us about anything in it at info@arkajewellery.ae or on +971 4 395 4464.
2. What we collect
Details you give us. When you book a private appointment, enquire about a piece, subscribe to our newsletter or contact us, we collect your name, email address, phone number and anything you choose to tell us — for example the occasion you are shopping for, your budget and timeline, a stone or metal preference, and notes about the piece you have in mind.
Chauffeur service. If you accept our complimentary chauffeur, we collect the pickup address you select so that we can send a car to you. We use it only to arrange that journey.
Orders. When you purchase from us we collect your billing and delivery address and the details of your order. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
Messages. If you write to us on WhatsApp, email or Instagram we keep the conversation so that we can follow up on it.
Technical data. Like most websites we receive your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you view, together with cookies as described in section 8.
3. How we use it
- To arrange and confirm your appointment, and to send a chauffeur if you have asked for one.
- To answer your enquiry and prepare a proposal or quotation for a made-to-order piece.
- To process, deliver and support your order, including resizing, repairs and certification.
- To send you news about collections and events, only where you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep the website secure, understand how it is used and improve it.
- To meet our legal obligations, including tax, anti-money-laundering and consumer-protection rules that apply to precious-metal and gemstone dealers in the UAE.
4. Our legal grounds
We rely on the performance of a contract with you (appointments, quotations, orders), your consent (marketing, cookies that are not strictly necessary, the chauffeur pickup location), our legitimate interests in running and protecting our business, and compliance with the law.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run Arka, each bound to use it solely on our instructions:
- Shopify, which hosts this website and processes orders.
- Our customer-relationship platform, where appointment and enquiry details are stored so our client advisors can prepare for your visit.
- Payment providers and insured couriers when you place an order.
- Our chauffeur partner, who receives your name, phone number and pickup address for the journey you have booked.
- Google Maps and Mapbox, which power the map on our contact page and the pickup-location picker in the booking form.
- Meta (WhatsApp, Instagram) when you choose to contact us through those channels, under their own privacy terms.
We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our clients or the public.
6. International transfers
Some of the providers above store data outside the UAE, including in the European Union and the United States. Where we transfer data abroad we do so only to countries with adequate protection or under contractual safeguards that meet UAE data-protection requirements.
7. How long we keep it
Appointment and enquiry details are kept for as long as we have an active relationship with you and for three years after our last contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Order records are kept for the period required by UAE tax and commercial law. Marketing preferences are kept until you unsubscribe.
8. Cookies
This website uses cookies that are necessary for it to work (your cart, your session, security), and — with your consent — analytics cookies that tell us which pages are visited. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies through the banner when you first visit, and change your mind at any time through your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
9. Your rights
You may ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you have given. Write to info@arkajewellery.ae and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the UAE Data Office or, where applicable, your local data-protection authority.
10. Security
Personal data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on systems with access limited to the staff who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the protection of our clients’ information seriously and review our safeguards regularly.
11. Children
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be announced on this page.
